NX Filtration supports water efficiency upgrade at power plant in Jiangsu, China

A large coal-fired power plant in Jiangsu Province, China, has upgraded its water treatment system with ultrafiltration (UF) membrane technology from NX Filtration to improve water efficiency, operational reliability and wastewater reuse.

The installation provides pretreatment for several key processes at the plant, including boiler make-up water production, circulating cooling water treatment and wastewater resource recovery. By efficiently removing suspended solids, colloids and microorganisms, the ultrafiltration system significantly improves feed water quality and protects downstream treatment processes such as reverse osmosis.

The membrane system is designed to deliver stable operation with strong fouling resistance and low chemical consumption, helping reduce operational costs while maintaining reliable long-term performance.

As a key energy provider in the region, the power plant requires highly stable water treatment performance to support the operation of its ultra-supercritical generation units. Since commissioning, the system has achieved excellent water quality indicators, including low turbidity and SDI levels, exceeding typical industry standards for pretreatment.
