The Challenge
The client, a leading luxury real estate developer, needed to expand the tap water supply for a high-end residential area. The available water source is a river, which is critical for the region but subject to variable quality. The solution had to reliably deliver high-quality potable water while minimizing the use of treatment chemicals to reduce logistics and operational complexity. In addition, the system needed to be easy to operate, robust,
and suitable for continuous supply to meet the expectations of residents.
The Solution
NX Filtration’s HFNF technology enables chemical-free potable water production in a single membrane step, combining low-fouling operation with effective removal of pathogens, turbidity and dissolved organics. A (biological) sand filter pretreatment further enhances process stability and water quality by supporting manganese and ammonium removal and the conversion of small biodegradable organics, resulting in stable long-term membrane performance.
The Solution
Despite variable river water quality, the dNF80 membrane consistently produced high-quality potable water throughout the
operating period. Complete removal of pathogens, turbidity and colour (>90%) was achieved, while COD removal exceeded 80%, with most samples below detection limit. The chemical-free process eliminated the need for continuous chemical dosing and transport, while maintaining stable performance under continuous operation.
